Miss World 2003 - The Online vote Miss Macedonia moves up

The Miss World Organisation's peoples' vote is taking shape with a new Top 10 of girls out today (Thursday December 4).

Miss Macedonia has joined the leaders at the expense of Miss Serbia and Montenegro.

Votes cast on the Miss World website http://www.missworld.tv will put one of the beauties into the last 20.

Voting can be done either by telephone or via the website.

In alphabetical order the leading girls are Albania, Australia, Brazil, India, Macedonia, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Thailand and Venezuela.

The poll shuts at midnight on Friday December 5 and the winner of the vote will be announced during the show on Saturday December 6 2003.

A total of 106 beauties will contest the Miss World 2003 Final which is being staged in Sanya, China. The two-hour spectacular show goes out live from 9pm. Sanya is eight hours ahead of GMT.

Star judges include Jackie Chan, 'Sex in the City' writer Candace Bushnell, Agbani Darego, the first black Miss World and international face of L'Oreal. Top singer Bryan Ferry teams up with Puerto Rican vocalist Luis Fonsi to provide the music.

The show will be presented by 'Paradise Hotel' star Amanda Byram and Phil Keoghan, the king of 'The Amazing Race.' The Miss World Final will be broadcast to 70 nations in front of an estimated TV audience of two billion.

Miss World Organisation executive chairman JULIA MORLEY said: 'We are delighted for Miss Ireland, our new Miss World 2003. But it could have been any one of the girls from the Top 20. 'Now Miss Ireland can look forward to an exciting future that holds travel and the prospect of helping children worldwide. 'Every single girl has been a winner. They are all great.'

After handing over her crown, Miss World 2002, AZRA AKIN a former Miss Turkey said: 'Miss Ireland will have a year of excitement. I hope she has as many happy times as I did. It is a great honour and I wish her every success.'

Singing star CHRIS DE BURGH father of Miss Ireland, Rosanna Davison, the new Miss World 2003, said: 'My wife Diane and I are thrilled and delighted for Rosie. Along with all the girls, she has worked so hard. As a family we feel very fortunate.

'Rosie will be a committed ambassador as Miss World. I know she will throw her heart and soul into the year - and the work - ahead.'
