Renault 5 Turbo
The History of the Renault 5
One of the great french designs of the post war years, this small front wheel drive car's mechanicals were deceptively orthodox, but cloaked in a 2 door hatchback body of such distinct and enduring style that its lines were perpetuauted when the 5 was updated in 1984. The model was produced with a wide variety of engine options throughout its life ranging from a modest 782cc to 1.7litres
The 5's original dimensions were simular to those of Renault's front wheel drive Renault 4, which was then 11 years old. Its suspension also followed that model , and that of the Renault 16. with longitudanal torsion bars at the front and transversely located ones at the rear, these being respectively used in conjunction with wishbones and trailing arms.
The beautifully packaged and elegant body, the brainchild of Renault's Michel Boue, was a masterpiece of industrial design. The lines were sketched in a mere two days and accepted, without modifications, by the management. The intention was to appeal, in particular, to young people and to women, sections of the public who had hithero scorned Renault's products. This objective was triumphantly acheived and, in consequence, no sheet metal changes were made until the mechanicals were extensively revised twelve year later in 1984.
R 5 Alpine(euro) or Gordini(UK)
In 1976, Renault launched the R5 Alpine with a 1397cc 4 cyclinder engine producing 93bhp. From the outside it looked exactly like the standard R5 apart from the Alpine logo on the side. Fitted with a 5 speed gearbox, the car was potent if not a little noisy. It was capable of over 110mph. In 1979 it won the group 5 section of the Monte Carlo rally. In that year it was introduced into Britain, where it was known as the 5 Gordini so as not to be confused with the Chrysler Alpine
For the track Renault launched the R5 coupe whos power was increased by the addition of a turbocharger.
Hot Hatch Competition
After the arrival of the volkswagen Golf GTI in 1976, Renault added a turbo to increase the power output to 110bhp – the same as the Golf GTI. It was the first 4 cyclinder turbocharged engine available in a road car. Renault proved early on that turbos were ideal for transforming a normal family car into a monster.
The renault 5 turbo was launched in 1978. The first incarnation was he Turbo I, 1397cc develpoing 160bhp. This car had the now legendary wide rear end incorporating air scoops to cool the engine. The interior was designed by Bertone and was simple, discrete and functional. The Renault 5 turbo I claimed the Monte Carlo Rally in 1981.
Renault 5 Turbo II
In 1982 the Turbo II replaced the Turbo I. It was manuafctured until 1986, a total of 3183 were made. In 1985 Renault introduced the GT Turbo. This was to become the phase I model.
Renault 5 GT Turbo Phase I
Weighing in at 860kg the phase I R5GTT had an awesome power to weight ratio having 115bhp on tap. An air cooled Garret T2 turbocharger was used with a modified Renault 8 Gordini 1394cc engine (compression reduced resulting by increasing capacity to 1397cc). The body styling was more subtle than the awesome turbo I and II and the power was deliverd from the front of the car to the front wheels. Renault 5 GT Turbo Phase II
Major changes included the use of water cooled turbocharger which enabled the turbo life to be extended dramatically. The chassis was also changed along with the bodywork. New bumpers, radiator grille, arches and side skirts. The coefficient of drag was reduced from 0.36 to 0.35. There was also a new alternator and ignition control unit (RE209 from RE208) enabling 500rpm more. The power was hiked from 115bhp to 120bhp.
In 1989 the phase II received a new interior and in 1991 the metallic blue Raider model was launched. This was a special edition with differeant interior and wheels.
In 1991 the Renault 5 GT Turbo was dicontinued the replacement in the form of the Clio 16v and the Clio Williams.
Ovo ljudi nadje na nagovor mog jednog kolege da mu provjerim ovo ali posto ja imam diverziju prema francuzima iako imaju veoma dobrih rjesenja u automibilizmu ja sam malo njih stavio u drugi plan ali ovo mi je nekako preslo u prvi. Preformanse pojedinih ovih klasa su zaista zadivljujuce. Ovo gore sam htjeo prevesti, ali svaki dan nema vremena pa mi se nije ni dalo ali ko ne razumije (iako ovdje ne bi trebalo biti takvih barem ja mislim) nek pita slobodno ali mislim u gornjem tekstu. U donjem je sve jasno.

I sto je najljepse od svega ovo su tvornicke TURBO zvijeri majko moja 970 kg i 160 KS ide kao ludo. Znam ja da ima danas boljih kolica ali ovo je samo podsjetnik kako smo nekad imali dobra kola i to bez mnogo elektronike i isla su kao zmaj. I samo jos nesto cijena ovakvih zvijeri danas je zanemariva u odnosu na nasljednika Clia 2.0 sport koji kosta crno iza nokata dok za njega mozete kupiti 5 GT Turbo I, sminke za njega na kiletine, fele, mjuzu za jedno 5000 KM i da vam ostane dobar kusur.

ja sam imao priliku da vozim 5-icu 1.4 turbo ali od 130 konja,vidim da ti nisi naveo tako nesto,ali nisam cak ni 100% siguran da je imao 130 konja mozda je 120 u pitanju,davno je bilo,pa sam i zaboravio.
Da vam iznesem utisak iz prve ruke...
Osjecaj za ubrzavanje,zvuk,lagana sasija,...nevjerovatno
Neide on bas nesto extra ludo ali je prilicno ljut,osjecaj za brzinu je daleko veci nego stvarna brzina,najvise mi je smetalo sto ima neoprostivu rupu do 2000 obrtaja,vozio sam i druga turbo auta ali nijedan nije imao tako nepodnosljivu rupu,kasnije ide stvarno dobro.Vuce u svim brzinama i malo koje auto na cesti bi moglo da se nosi sa njim,stvarno dobra kolica.
takav RENO u rally-u prije 15 god je imao 550 konja sa 2000 ccm

Ovo sto sam ja nasao su vecinom podaci bas ono sa orginala tj. tvornicki imam ja tu verziju sto on kaze od 550 KS slike ali nije 550 vec neka krava hajde da bude bolje pa 650 KS ali to je strahota kako izgleda. Ovaj reno za razliku od ova dva na gornjim slikama su pristupacni i moze ih kupiti obicni smrtnik a pod tim mislim i naci a ova dva rariteta su tesko pronzljiva i ja ih do sad nisam ni vidio jer kako sam rekao reno mi je bezze pa mi se ni ne gleda nista oko njega. Ali vidim da ljudi imaju tih nekih argumenata pa pokazujte i ja cu gledati da prikazem te slike od ovog turba 650 KS sto ima.

Jebiga pokazao bih ja ovosto sam ja nasao ali ovi administratori treba da pojedinim ljudima stave free acees jer mi ne stavljamo gluposti a ovako treba 5 dana da oni slucajno vide slike i odobre ih eto toliko od mene
